Green Tea Seed Oil
Green tea seed oil and its extract are made from the tea plant called Camillia sinesis, and is widely known for its use as a potent antioxidant and cancer preventer and fighter.
The oil contains a special class of bioflavonoids - high in catechin polyphenols, in particular, (-)Epigallocatechin Gallate (EGCG) - with powerful antioxidant properties used in food production and antioxidant research. The polyphenol groups are extremely active in increasing the level of antioxidants in the body, which neutralize free radicals before they cause cell damage and other pro-oxidants. They are thought to block the attachment of carcinogens and bacteria to cells and support healthy liver function. These bioflavonoids also help to maintain healthy gums, prevent "bad breath" and blocks attachment of bacteria to teeth protecting against cavities
Researchers found that EGCG is 200 times more powerful than Vitamin E in neutralizing pro-oxidants and free radicals that attack lipids (oils and fats). It is 20 times more potent than Vitamin E in reducing formation of dangerous and potentially mutagenic peroxides that form rancid fats and lard. EGCG is also known to confer protection against respiration and digestive functions and food poisoning while encouraging acidophillus growth and regularizing bowel habits. In laboratory studies, 500 mg. of green tea catechins per day have been shown to significantly lower blood pressure and possess anti-mutagenic activity. At very high levels (0.5% to 1% of daily diet) green tea catechins reduced high total- and LDL-cholesteral levels.
Like Vitamin C, polyphenols may block the formation of nitrosamines and other cancer causing compounds and may trap or detoxify carcinogens. Green tea seed oil may also exert an estrogen blocking effect that is helpful in preventing colon, stomach, small intestine, pancreas, lungs, breast and uterine cancer and another study suggests that it might prevent the development of tumours by blocking the growth of new blood vessels to feed these tumours.
Green tea seed oil is non-toxic,both in acute and high long-term doses.
